Scentsy Tip of the Day: Less IS More!

Have you been wondering just how much wax you are supposed to be putting in your Scentsy warmer?? Have you experimented with a couple cubes at a time… maybe (now be honest) you've gone ahead and put the whole bar in, just to make sure there's enough fragrance going around??
Well, never fear, you're friendly neighbourhood Scentsy consultant is here to help!
My simple tip for you today will help you get the best out of your Scentsy wax...

Only use ONE cube of Scentsy wax at a time
 in your Scentsy warmer!!

Why, you ask? The scent comes from the warmest part of the warmer, the bottom of the dish, so filling the dish too deep with wax makes it harder for the fragrance to escape!! Therefore, LESS = MORE when using Scentsy!
Using a small amount of wax will give you an amazing scent throw

Each bar should last you 80-160 hours or more (So much fragrance for so little money, [$7 a bar]) ! With this tip you will definitely get more out of your wax!

Your nose AND your wallet will thank you :P

Do you have any tips to share? What works for you?? Share in the comments below :D

Why Scentsy uses food-grade petroleum wax!

Here is a note from one half of Scentsy's founders, Orville Thompson. Food-grade petroleum wax is what is used to max apples shiny! Totally safe. Always remember that Scentsy warms our wax to release the scentsilicous scents only, that way nothing gets released in the air like burning a traditional candle :)

" We use a food grade petroleum based wax. We choose this wax because of its superior scent loading ability, melt point and firmness. We looked into vegetable based waxes and we just couldn't get a quality candle bar

The issue of vegetable vs. petroleum waxes raised by vegetable wax candle makers because of the health risk associated with "burning" petroleum waxes. //The scientific research I have read (as opposed to sales literature ) suggests that there are plenty of health issues with burning candles of any type of wax. Switching to vegetable based waxes does not seem to reduce the health risks as much as the veggie wax people would like us to believe. The Scentsy solution is simply not to "burn" the wax. The wax is not burned, and therefore not released into the air to pollute our lungs, walls and furniture."

The issue of the type of wax we use is a non-issue with regard to chemicals released while burning because we only warm the scent out of the wax, the wax remains in the warmer. If customers have questions about what kind of wax we use, I always ask them why.

This is because any other answer than 'soy' or 'vegetable" will put off anyone who is predisposed to using only vegetable wax, even if the logic explained later is sound. If they respond by saying they only use vegetable wax candles or are asking out of simple curiosity, you can explain the scentsy solution and it is better than burning any kind of wax which put our products in the proper and positive light.

To put it simply, I would rather have a petroleum wax in a warmer that a soy wax dispersed into the air in my home by a wick/flame. Let wicked candle makers fight over relative safety. With Scentsy we practice 'safer scents" - we abstain from wicks!"
